While winter isn’t technically until Thursday, Dec. 21, the winter season has, to many, begun.
Due to this unofficial start of the season, plenty of people are looking to get some cozy traveling in. And Architectural Digest has just released some of the “top winter wonderland destinations” around the United States
According to Architectural Digest, this list was the result of data plucked from Yelp, Airbnb, and other platforms on 95 selected places across the country.
The ” chair of the weather, comfort of lodgings, and the thrill of snow activities” were all considered for final rankings.” Each location as then separated into six main categories.
The first mention of a Pennsylvania location was Seven Springs in the 62nd overall spot. Then came Lake Harmony in 68th, and Tannersville in 71st.
Alas, the majority of the top winter wonderlands were located in the Centennial State — Colorado — which is well-known for its mountains and the skiing they provide.
Vail, for example — which ranked first — was well graded on the lodgings it has available as well as its scenic, skiing, and winter activities rankings, too. Aspen came second, and Beaver Creek, third, to round out the top three.
“Winter offers a long list of outdoor adventures and cozy experiences, and our ranking of the best U.S. winter wonderland destinations can help you take advantage of them,” the article concludes. “While Colorado has proven itself a winter lover’s haven, Vermont also offers incredible eats, and Lake Tahoe is the ultimate destination for scenic beauty.
