Victor Perez withdraws from Hero Indian Open and is not among the guests of the Honda Classic

Still on the Entry List for the Hero Indian Open (February 23-26) midweek, Victor Perez withdrew from the tournament. Hoping to win a possible invitation to the Honda Classic, the Tarbais ultimately does not appear in the field of the PGA Tour tournament. The opportunities to get closer to the top 50 in the world, and therefore to be able to be at the start of the next Masters, are dwindling for the leader of the Race to Dubai…

Victor Perez will finally not go to New Delhi to play the Hero Indian Open scheduled from February 23 to 26. The Tarbais indeed withdrew in the middle of the week from the Indian meeting of the European Tour offering an endowment of 2 million dollars.

To hope to advance significantly in the world rankings where he currently occupies 59th place, he had to win the tournament. Given the weakness of the field taken into account by the new world ranking calculation system , even a top 3 would not have allowed him to garner enough points to approach the coveted world top 50.

The famous sesame which would open all the doors to him, including that of the Masters (April 6-9).

According to our information, he hoped at the same time to win an invitation for the Honda Classic scheduled for the same dates as the Hero Indian Open. But the organizers of the Palm Beach Gardens (Florida) tournament, with an endowment of 8.4 million dollars, decided to offer the sponsor’s precious exemptions to three KFT players, Pierceson Coody, Akshay Bhatia Andrew Kozan and the Charlie Sifford Award recipient Marcus Byrd.

Those granted by Commissioner Jay Monahan, and reserved for foreign players, went to Pole Adrian Meronk , present this week at the Genesis Invitational , and Australian Min woo Lee , second in the Abu Dhabi Championship behind… Victor Perez.

In Puerto Rico at the beginning of March?

In short, the schedule for the next few weeks for the leader of the Race to Dubai remains as vague as ever.

Will he manage to start the Puerto Rico Open on March 2, an alternate PGA Tour tournament with an endowment of $3.8 million, placed in front of the Arnold Palmer Invitational , $20 million from endowment? Or will he wait for the Magical Kenya Open (March 9-12) on the DP World Tour to make his comeback?

Remember that the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play (March 22-26) will certainly be the last opportunity for him to get closer to Augusta, unless he can in the meantime obtain an invitation to the PGA Tour, i.e. to the Valspar Championship ( March 16-19), or at the Valero Texas Open (March 30-April 2)… Stay tuned!
