The U.S. Embassy in Tashkent and Ball State University (BSU) are pleased to announce a summer 2023 exchange opportunity for undergraduate students across Uzbekistan. This opportunity is fully funded by the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent and will cover all expenses related to the finalists’ participation in the program, including international airfare, accommodation, and meals.
Fifteen students from Uzbekistan will be selected through a merit-based competition to travel to the United States and participate in a 21-day exchange program at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. The program will be held from June 14 – July 6, 2023 and will offer a transformative and enriching experience seeking to improve civic understanding and to build lasting relationships between the United States and Uzbekistan.
Titled “United States & Uzbekistan Network and International Exchange for Development (UNITED)”, the program will include interactive seminars and workshops on civics, government, and career development. BSU faculty mentors will challenge students to apply classroom knowledge to projects that benefit their communities and advance their professional goals. UNITED will work to build lasting partnerships with U.S. youth organizations to build upon the ideas that emerges during the exchange program.
Applicants are required to submit a 1-to-2-page essay in English detailing why they want to participate and how they may benefit from the program, along with a recommendation letter in English as part of the application process. All applicants must be able to speak, read, and write English. All programming and interviews will be conducted in English.
All participants who successfully complete the program and follow-up evaluation will earn Certificates of Completion.
